Product: LinkStation Pro Duo LS-WVL

Firmware: 1.57?

I previously set up WebAccess but could only access my NAS from my local network.

After a few weeks I decided to give it another crack;

I changed the external port on my NAS from 12345 (no idea why I chose that) to 9000 to match the internal port number and I wasn't able to save the settings, kept getting this error:

"Error accessing BuffaloNas?.com, check internet settings."

The only thing I was attempting to change was the external port number! It retained the existing settings but wouldn't let me change them.

I then thought I'd try disabling WebAccess and re-enabling it but haven't been able to re-enable it ever since, just keep getting the error:

"Error accessing BuffaloNas?.com, check internet settings."

I am forwarding port 9000 on my router/modem.

I've seen a lot of talk on here about DNS servers... Could this help me at all?

You may want to reset your NAS.

After that, you may pick-up some details from this thread

http://forums.buffalotech.com/t5/Storage/Web-Access-not-working-outside-LAN-despite-forwarded-port/td-p/100443

On the stickies, there is a thread that show you how to connect remotely to your NAS using DynDNS service (free)

Good luck

Cheers mate. I had seen that thread and was going to give DynDNS a crack when I get home.

When you say "reset", do you simply mean turn it off and then back on?

If you are getting this error then the Default Gateway and/or the Primary DNS is set incorrectly on the network tab.

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.
Having network issues? Drop me an email: info@interwebnetworks.com and we will get it fixed!

DynDNS (www.dyndns.com) is a kind of free + paid service, free for personal use though.

- You need to register an account with Dyndns and get the link (such as yourname.dyndns.org)

- Config the Modem/Router to work with this Dyndns account; Forward port 9000 to your NAS

- Setup your NAS for Web Access (go to admin page)

- If everything is ok, you can access your NAS from outside by yourname.dyndns.org:9000
