Hi

I bought a drivestation 500gb external hard drive a few days ago. I plugged it in and it installed. I then went to my computer, saw it there and transfered some files over to it. All good so far. A couple of hours later I went back on the computer and the drive was no longer in my computer, I couldn't find it anywhere. It hasn't shown up since, I've restarted the computer, tried different USB ports but it's still not there. This is on Windows XP SP3. Any idea what's happened?

Many thanks!

Thanks for the reply. Where is the power switch exactly? I can't see any buttons on the hard drive. I forgot to say it's the HD-CEU2 model if that helps.

My apologies... that model doesn't have the auto/manual switch. Check if the drive shows up in disk management (Start->run, diskmgmt.msc) in the bottom window pane.

Nope, it ain't there, just my other drives.

Looks like a hardware problem with the drive. Call your local Buffalo support line to set up an RMA.
