Upgrade options for Terastations?

Hi

I'm looking into purchasing a Buffalo NAS (probably a Terastation Live) for expandable SOHO storage, and have a couple of questions that I hope someone can answer.

1) If I buy the lowest storage version (eg 1TB),  can I swap out the small drives and put in larger ones later? (I know I would have to reconfigure the RAID, but that's OK).

2) Is there a fixed logical size limit to the drives in the Terastation Live? (eg, an OS limitation of 4GB).

3) What make and model drives come pre-installed?

3) How easy is it to reconfigure RAID on the drives using (I assume) the web interface?

Thanks!

Thank you for your interest in our products. To answer your questions:

1) There are ways to do that explained elsewhere in the forum, but keep in mind that is not supported by our support department. We will be very limited in the amount of assistance we can provide if something goes wrong during that procedure. Also, if you do that, the device will no longer be covered under the warranty.

2) 1 TB drives are the maximum we've tested. There is no limitation that I know of, but again, if it doesn't work, we will be unable to offer much help.

3) We purchase drives in lots from all the major manufacturers including Hitachi, Seagate, Western Digital, and Samsung, so there's no way of knowing without checking the web interface or the drives themselves in the individual NAS.

4) Simple. Delete the existing RAID structure, then create a new one in the web interface.
