Can please provide some more info:

-OS (03 or 08?)

-TS model and Firmware version (if available)

Does this happen with every computer? Does the TS become accessible again by itself or do you reboot it or something else? Does this happen only when saving a file or both saving and opening?Do you have access restrictions on any folders?

I would say your best bet would be to try upgrading FW, but not sure if that should solve the issue or not, yet.

Thanks for the immediate reply kevin. We'll we are using a windows 2003 server.I already downloaded the latest firmware of 1.33.We do need to reboot the terastation so that it will become accessible again. Please advice.

kevin

Usually a FW update will fix this... So get the latest FW 1.33 (since you already have this you will need to perform a force update). Let us know if this doesn't work or if you need assistance with forcing the update!

Also do you run multiple backups to or from the TS at once. If so try to stagger them out so that there is not a lot of data being transferred to it. Sometimes with many backups running at once, the TS will get overloaded and disconnect from the network.

Follow this to boot into EM Mode and then force FW update:

Booting into EM (Emergency mode):

You want to power down the unit. Then press and hold the reset button as power the unit up (you can let go of the reset button after the unit has been booting for a few seconds).

Then plug the unit directly into your computer and open up the Nas Navigator. You then want to set your computer's IP address to match the subnet of the IP (first three sets of numbers must be the same and the last set must be a different number) the Navi is giving you, also make sure the subnetmask is the exact same.

Force Updating Firmware:

  1. To force the firmware update to the unit, users will need to enable Debug support on the Updater.exe.
  2. To do this open the lsupdater.ini or nasupdater.ini file from the firmware. Whether you have nasupdater.ini or lsupdater.ini will depend on the firmware version.
  3. Open the .ini file and Change: Version check = 1 to Version Check = 0 then hit Enter twice and add the following two lines to the of the text file:

[SpecialFlags]
Debug = 1

  1. Save the .ini file and run the Updater.exe.
  2. Click on the top left corner of the Updater window (on the small picture) and select "Debug (D)". This will bring up the Debug options.
  3. Select either "Ignore Current Version", or "Force Update" and click OK. This will have the program force the update even if it detects the same version was already installed.
