LS421DE Web interface doesn't load after Firmware Update

I just updated the Firmware on an LS421DE to 1.30 (from 1.01).  The firmware update seemed to go well.  Afterwards the NASNavigator software (ver 2.58) finds the Linkstation, however I can not get the web interface to load.  I tried on multiple PCs and with Firefox (ver 26.0) and IE 9 and IE 11.  The IP address resolves to /root.html, the page goes grey and nothing happens after that. 

I tried rebooting the NAS, still same result.  I tried updating the firmware over again with the LSUpdater (including with the various debug options checked from the sticky #2), but I get a "Format Failed.  Update aborted." error.
