Linkstation Mini Access Problems First Use Each Day

Hi,

I'm having trouble access my Linkstation Mini. This usually happens the first time in a day I try to access it. Access to a small file takes maybe 10 minutes. I can see the directory structure and can expand it without any delays.

Once I have managed to access a file on the PC, things improve and I can access the drive as normal from then on.

I have the Linkstation Mini connected to a Sonos music system, and this is its most common usage. Songs are simply not playing until I have accessed a file or NASNavigator via PC, which is pretty inconvenient if I just want to play a few songs on the Sonos while I get ready for work! Sometimes this doesn't even solve the problem.

I've been using the NAS, Sonos and BT Home Hub together in their current configuration since January, but have only experienced this issue in the last couple of weeks. The Sonos system successfully plays songs from other sources eg. Napster, LastFM. Also the Sonos and my PCs are working together fine. It's only the NAS that's the issue, and that seems to be on both the Sonos and Home Hub networks.

Any ideas??

Model name / firmware version: LS-WSGL/R1 F/W 1.05.

Thanks,

Stuart.

What position do you have the switch in?  On-off or Auto?

sakamada

Thanks for your reply.

I did have it at Auto but have moved it to On. It didn't seem to improve matters at first. I have subsequently rebooted with it at On to see if that makes a difference, since then I have been able to access files on a PC and also play songs on my Sonos.

Is it inadvisable to have it at Auto??

Stuart.

Auto means it will go into a sleep mode when a computer isn't sending keep alive packets to it.  This means that when your computer shut down (or went to sleep) the LS does.  When you access the NASNAVI it brings the unit out of sleep mode.

Thanks for the advice, I'll leave it at On and hopefully that might resolve the issue.

Trouble is, I can't remember changing the switch position, so I'm still slightly concerned that my unit has developed a problem coming out of sleep mode, as it's taking a long time to access a file or log on to NASNavigator. Also Sonos couldn't wake it at all.

Not an issue if it works at On though.

Hi,

Having the same problem again. Switch is at ON. Response is slow to stop. Sonos can't play songs from it, takes about 10 secs to open a folder, file copy is horrendous.

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks,

Stuart.
