Linkstation Model: LS-XH1.0TL-EU

Firmware version: unknown as cannot access Web Interface to see firmware version.

Network: Vista Laptop, XP PC connected via Ethernet to Sky SAGEM router

Router IP: 192.168.0.1

LS IP: 192.168.0.4

This is my 2nd linkstation Pro as had to return the first. However, am also having problems with this replacement right from the get go. I have trawled through the Forum and have seen similar probs but as a newb  I am not confident enough to determine if they are the same as mine - so I apologise if I have missed something.

This time I managed to run the quick Setup ok with no problems. I have a Vista laptop and XP pc and initially both could  "see" the Linkstation via Nas Navi and I could also access the Web interface via both computers and could create new folders etc on Linkstation. I could also see it as an attached device on my Router.

I installed Memeo on laptop and started a backup (via Ethernet cable not wireless). This worked fine up to last few 100 files when the Linkstation became unavailable with the following error message: \\Location\Linkstation is not accessible. you might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The network path was not found.". This happens on both computers and when open Nas Navi – it does not find the Linkstation. Also cannot access the Web interface and the LS does not appear as an attached device on my router. However, I can still successfully ping the LS from the router.

My second problem is that my LS will not power off. I set it to Off last night and still displaying constant blue light today.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Is the power switch in the ON or AUTO position?  Are you accessing the NAS file system via it's IP address (e.g. \\192.168.xxx.xxx) or by the NetBIOS name (e.g. \\LinkStation)?

mcf1964

All the above was done with the switch set to ON (never got the length of trying AUTO).

As for your 2nd question - not sure what you mean. I know that Memeo accesses the NAS using NetBios name (\\LS-XHL617\share\Backup_Folder_Name). Looking at Nas Navi - it seems to be doing an "open" on LS-XHL617. But the Web Interface uses the NAS IP address. When I tried the ping, I used the NAS's IP address. Does this answer your 2nd question?

Kind of, you'll need to go to Run and type in \\[IP_address_of_NAS] (e.g. 192.168.xxx.xxx) and that should open a file browser window with the NAS file system.  Post back what you find.

mcf1964

When I do that I get a message back (eventually) - "The specified network name is not available"

Dustrega

What exactly did you type into Run, because you shouldn't be getting a network name error at that point.

Yes, that's correct does the NAS Navi show a firmware version in the NAS information area?  I noticed a firmware version wasn't posted.  Perhaps it's a corrupt firmware issue.

No - the Nas Navi doesn't show anything at all - it is completely blank. When I first ran setup and was able to access the Nas via Nas Navi/Web Interface it did show the firmware - but unfortunately I didn't make a note of it at the time. It'll be whatever version it was shipped with as never got the length of updating it.

I still also have the problem that it won't switch off when in OFF position. The blue light remains on.
