Linkstation Pro LS-XHL E06

After a firmware upgrade resulting E06, and an unsuccessful RMA due to the fact that I live in Brazil (Buffalo won't RMA my unit back here), I was able to bring my Linkstation Pro LS-XHL back to life.

Flashing to 1.26 or 1.31 with TFTP and debug mode with every box checked on lsupdater invariably resulted in E06 after the unit rebooted.

In order to revive itt, I had to flash my unit to 1.10 (worked with 1.20 as well, I tested later) using TFTP, and then I was able to do normal upgrade from 1.20 to 1.31 on it without debug mode.

When I try to flash it with 1.26 or 1.31 with every box checked on debug mode, I systematically get E06 error.

I don't have a faulty unit, as I've been using it for 3 days now, and it works as it should. Which makes me wonder if there's something wrong with the boot image on these unified firmwares, as my LS-XHL bricks using them.

If anyone else is getting E06, I suggest downgrading to 1.10 or 1.20 using TFTP and use debug mode on lsupdater,  with every box checked. It was the only thing that fixed my unit.

To Buffalo: PLEASE CHECK YOUR LATEST FIRMWARE TO LS-XHL. IT'S FAULTY.

Sounds like there is a problem in your main board, just used a unit and jumped from 1.26 and 1.31 repeatedly with no issues, with the FW download from the website.  An RMA may be needed for the unit

I was able to upgrade from 1.10 to 1.20, 1.20 to 1.26, 1.26 to 1.31 in normal conditon (no debug mode or firmare check disabled).

The problem appears using TFTP and debug mode on, not on normal upgrade.

Have you done that with TFTP, debug mode on, in your lsupdate.ini? Checked every box to make it factory default?

Just ran with every box checked, did not run in any snags for the forced FW update.  Currently working on TFTP-ing a unit at moment

mengati

Well, let's wait your results then.

AngelsAbys

Swapped some of the TFTP boot images around with the firmware versions and only encountered an error at 1.31.  Looking into this as I type.  It will take a short bit of time to fully research this

mengati

So you did ended up with E06 trying to flash your unit with 1.31 on TFTP, debug mode on with every box checked? Have you tested the latest 1.33 firmware in the same conditions as well?

AngelsAbys

not as of yet, focusing on 1.31 at moment
