I seem to have lost being able to connect to my lnkstation (hs-dh500gl-r) over the network.  I can browse to it using the ip address, just can't connect on the network.  There are no error lights, and does say the link is active.  it's connected to a linksys router. i haven't changed anything.  I think i may have lost power for a second (I fell asleep and when I woke my TV was off but everything else was still on [linkstation, router, cable box, stereo]).  I was going to update the firmware, but I didn't see a place to do it by browsing.  Any ideas?

If you map to the shares on your Linkstation, you should be able to access it any time from your computer window (where all your drives are listed).

On Windows XP, open 'My Computer' and click 'Tools'->'Map Network Drive.'  Select the drive letter you want to use, then enter "\\ipaddress\sharename" without the quotes.  Click finish, and a new icon for your mapped drive should pop up in 'My Computer.'

You can also update the firmware on the Linkstation by downloading the appropriate updater from http://www.buffalotech.com/support/downloads/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.buffalotech.com/support/downloads/.  It is an application you run from your PC to update the firmware on the unit.

Mapping using an IP address did get me to the drive (thanks, didn't think of that), but it still doesn't show as part of my network.  Previously I never had to map to it, each of the shares would just show as a drive (on both my PCs [many] and Mac).  I am also unable to update the firmware.  Neither the Nas Nav nor the Firmware updater are able to find the linkstation (presumably because it is no longer part of the network).

Nothing has changed on my network.  I checked all my settings on my routers and the linkstation, and nothing is different.  (I have two routers connected.  I am trying to access the linkstation through the same router it is connected to).

If you're able to map it, then you can communicate with it. Are you able to get to it's web interface?

Pablo

Yes, I am able to map to it by specifying the IP address.  I can also get to the web interface using the IP address (it's a static IP that I assigned).  But it doesn't seem to be a drive on my network anymore (as it was before).  It is out there, and the data is still there, it's just no longer an available drive.

If you can access the files using the IP but it doesnt show in explorer then you are having DNS issues on your network.

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.
