Hello,

I recently bought a 500gb buffalo HD. After connecting it to the computer, I ran the navigation setup "DriveNavigator.exe". The setup was succusful but the drive never showed up on my computer. Only the drive containing the setup file is there. I repeated this process with all possible different variations of running the setup.

It still was not detected so i went to computer management and the HD is "not initialized" and "unallocated"

I attempted to initlize and error prompts "The device is not ready".

I e-mailed buffalo support and after waiting for 4 days with no reply, I am really frustrated and disappointed. I have never had so much trouble using an external hard drive before and not being able to find a solution. Please advice, Thank you for reading.

As this is a USB hard drive, not much can be done to troubleshoot.

If you check in your Device Manager, do you see any USB related items listed with a yellow "?" next to them?

It is possible the hard drive, or the usb converter board in the hard drive is defective, I'd contact the store you purchased it at about an exchange, and barring that, contact Buffalo tech support for a replacement.
