A little info:

HS-DH0.0TGL/R5

Stock Bios (Not sure the version because I cant get network access right now...this will make sense in my main post)

I had this server origionally set up in my furniture factory.  About two years later I set up an office in my house and moved the Terastation whith no problems.  Six months later I moved offices again and when I tried to plugin and setup the Terastation it gave me a E04 error twice so I decided to take it back to my house and see if it would give me that error there (its been working fine for about three years and only had to replace the hard drive once) and it did not.  My home network and my new work network have different settings (for some reason my new office doesnt allow DHCP so I had to manually configure it).

Before I took it over to my new work office it was working fine at my house.  In fact, I changed the IP info and pulled some important files I needed that day.  When I pluged in the network and power cables to the server at the work network I did have access to the web front end and files over the network but about 5 or 7 minutes later i started getting the E04 error.  I ran it back to my house to see if it still works here and does (but since the IP settings are different than my office I cant access the web front end or the files via the network).  Im sure I can just telnet or TFTP the IP settings so I can get access.

My main reason for this post is why would it E04 at my work but not at my house?

There is no specific reasonsings for a problem like this.  Going to offer possible scenarios that it could result.  First being is the security on the work based network vs the home metwork, could be interfering with boot up signal (slim chance) another explanation is that during the transport process there are enough bumps for the read/write heads to adjust a little bit to throw the boot off.  you can always try out FAQ 2&3 to gain access if there are still problems   http://forums.buffalotech.com/t5/Storage/FAQ-2-of-4-Force-Firmware-update-procedure-please-read-this/td-p/11011" rel="nofollow" target=_blank>http://forums.buffalotech.com/t5/Storage/FAQ-2-of-4-Force-Firmware-update-procedure-please-read-this/td-p/11011        http://forums.buffalotech.com/t5/Storage/FAQ-3-of-4-TFTP-boot-procedure-please-read-this/td-p/11015" rel="nofollow" target=_blank>http://forums.buffalotech.com/t5/Storage/FAQ-3-of-4-TFTP-boot-procedure-please-read-this/td-p/11015
