Firmware update help urgently needed....Please!

Hi,

 

Really hoping someone can help me....here's my problem.

I've got a Linkstation HS DH320GL.  Just recently I had it unplugged from the power supply for a few hours, and when I plugged it all back in the thing did't work.  Turns out there was no firmware.

 

So, in my ignorance I looked for the highest firmware number and tried to install it.  I actually had the US firmware and 2.21 and this did't work with my linkstation, so I've got the UK version now (2.11) and have been trying to force the firmware.

 

Here's what I've been doing:

 

• I've set up the debug menu on the installer, and this seems to work fine.  
• Then I put the linkstation into EM mode (Hold INIT button at back while pressing power) and when it's found by nasnavi it says there is no firmware and the workstation name is unknown.
• Then I launch the updater to get firmware 2.11 on it.  

 

 

That seems to work fine, but when it's finished loading the firmware the green power light just keeps on flashing and the updater has a 'waiting for finish of reboot' message on the screen.  Then it says:

 

"waited for 360 seconds but couldn't confirm a response from hd-dhgl

Do you want to wait again?"

 

This goes on and on.

 

When I turn off and on the Linkstation, the green light just keeps on flashing!!!

 

Please help.  I've got photos on the drive that I REALLY don't want to loose, and I'm not one 100% sure that I backed everything up...when I bought this I thought it would be the backup!!

Hi Sethz and thanks for replying.

 

I have tried that but it didn't work.

 

I did manage to get the 2.11 firmware to stick, but the Share file still wasn't available.  I could see the file but none of my data in it.

 

Now, once I turn it off, the drive is not discoverable by NasNavi again and the green power light is continually flashing.  Then after a while I get a continuous beep and 4 red error flashes. 

 

I'm getting really frustrated by this now, and wasting alot of time to be honest.

 

Any ideas anyone??

 

P.S. I'm no real techy so if you could keep it simple that would be great.
