Model: DriveStation Duo

Hard Drive: Samsung 500GB SATA Model HD501LJ

Unit Set: RAID 1

My drive No.1 went red so I replaced it with a "Seagate Barracuda 500GB SATA Model ST3500641AS-RK " and turned on unit per instruction on replacing drive found in forum. I turned on unit and No.1 is now green (No. 2 is green also). Thats it nothing else is happening. I thought it would start rebuilding and show some sign of doing so. Wondering what to do next.  PC User Guide is usless, doesn't explain what to do after a drive goes bad. Need a Guru for help.

Thanks

Cesar

there are cases where a rebuild will not start automatically, in this case you would need to log into the web GUI than under system choose storage and an option will be present to rapir/rebuild the array.

Hi Angel, Thank you for responding. What is and where do I find GUI? I also turned on the unit this morning and No.1 is red again. Does this mean there is something wrong with the unit or did the new drive die? Is there someone who can tell me what suppose to happen? Does the unit flash, buzz, or dance around the room when rebuilding? I thought this was suppose to be easy! I'm starting to get worried I going to loose 3000 photos.

if the light is flashing on the HDD then it means the raid is rebuilding, dont reboot it as it will mean the rebuilding process will have to start again from the beginning.

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

Thanks Davo, No. 1 is red but not flashing. I read instruction on replacing Drive on forum that said not to hook up to USB when rebuilding. Just thought I'd add that in. Any other ideas? Thanks again Davo

To be honest if its a replacement HDD and the error light is still solid red then more than likely the controller is at fault. You can try rebuiling the RAID array using the RAID utility that can be downloaded on the Buffalo web site.
