LinkStation LS-1000 not accessible

I've been using my LinkStation LS1000 for a while now and enjoying it greatly. When I turn off my computer, I also turn off everything else: modem, router, LinkStation.

About 1 1/2 week ago, suddenly I could not access my shares anymore.  The unit turns on fine, top 2 lights (power and LAN) are on and green. No other lights are on and no unusual sounds come from the unit. The LAN light blinks sometimes like there is activity. I thought that maybe the router was acting up. I replaced it, but that was not it. I tried a re-set (button on back), power off and on, keeping it off for a long time. Nothing works. Using the desktop navigator software, it gives me an IP address, but Workgroup is UNKNOWN. I can't access it directly by use of the IP address either. I've pinged it, and get a successful return. I've tried to re-install the software, but the navigator installation errors out. It recognizes the drive, but can't access it.

I'm stumped! I would like to be able to use it. I have been doing back-ups, so I won't lose too much data. But still.....

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forums:

I would first like to point out our forum guidelines and state that we need an exact model number (usually found on the bottom of the device) and the firmware version that the device is currently running.  This will help us determine what the problem could be as well as what it isn't.  If you could also post the IP address of your computer and the NAS that would be helpful as well.  Thank you.

I noticed last night the firmware version was showing '--------'. I should have seen that earlier, but somehow missed it. I checked the support section and found that I needed to update the firmware. That solved it.

Sorry to have waisted your time.

Never a waste as long as the problem gets solved and thanks for posting back :robotvery-happy:
