Linkstation HS-DH750GL not accessible from NAS Navigator or Web UI

Sorry, I've searched the forum threads and not been able to locate a problem exactly like this--I want to make sure I don't do something stupid.

Was loading files on to my Linkstation HS-DH750GL the other night and it began operating very slowly (hard drive had plenty of capacity).  After rebooting the device--powers on, no error lights and it indicates that the network is connected-- it could not be found on the network, by the NASNavigator (tested on both Macs and Windows 7 machines) nor under the web UI.  I then reset the device thinking that the IP address might be an issue (have a DHPC router), but to no avail.

Before I do something I'll probably regret, Is there something easy that I might be missing?

Thanks for your help.

Update 10:30

Tried booting in EM mode (i assume i did it correctly) and still does not show for either the NASNavigator or for the firmware update software.

I will probably just go onto the drive removal stage tomorrow unless anyone has anything to add.

Make sure all protective software is disabled.  Can you check to see if it is being assigned an IP by your router?  Also what version of the NASNAVI program are you running?
