LS210 4TB Distorted pictures and other media

I recently bought an LS210 4TB and set it up on my home network. I loaded it up with all my personal pictures, videos, pdf documents etc. I've mapped the Share on 5 different laptops, and tried to view the pictures and other media. From 4 of the 5, there are no issues. All media is read correctly and clearly.

On one of the 5 laptops, all the pictures are heavily distorted, the videos skip and pixelate and the pdf give several different errors. Does anyone have any tips to fix this? Thanks, SH

So the good news here is that it is not the NAS. The bad news is this will indicate that the issue is tied to the computer that is having the issue. This can be either software or hardware related as well.

Sadly it is hard to track down what the actual cause would be. Are the files just being read form the NAS or are you puling them over and then opening them? If it is either or I would also try the other method to see if the issue still stands. Also if the laptop is on wifi I would recommend trying a wired connection to the network as well in case.

Hi partycat. Thanks for your response. The Buffalo support team had me check different things including copying files to the SSD etc. When I copy files locally, the same happens. It happens on Ethernet and WiFi both. It's a fairly new laptop so it's very weird. I have 2 machines with Linux and those are fine too. It's only one laptop with Windows 11. Thanks

This sounds like a missing decompression program to me. I'd google this symptom and note the file extension, and also windows 11. It may well be that MS left out something that windows 10 had for decompressing certain media. You may also try to change the program that opens the video / picture. if its a common file type, and its a win 11 issue, I promise you arent the only one with this issue.
