I have a TS3210D that isn't working right. It appears in NAS Navigator, I can ping and mount folders via NFS and SMB. I cannot, however, get to the web admin interface not matter what I try. I have rebooted multiple times by holding power button. I also unplugged and let it sit for several minutes. Nothing I do seems to bring it back.

When I try to visit the web admin, I just get a "connection refused" error. I have other Buffalo, QNAP, Synology NAS that I can connect to just fine.

I also tried SSH and also get a connection refused error.

When I run nmap agains the device, there are no web ports reporting being open/listening:

Not shown: 990 closed ports
PORT      STATE SERVICE
22/tcp    open  ssh
111/tcp   open  rpcbind
139/tcp   open  netbios-ssn
199/tcp   open  smux
445/tcp   open  microsoft-ds
548/tcp   open  afp
873/tcp   open  rsync
2049/tcp  open  nfs
8873/tcp  open  dxspider
22939/tcp open  unknown

Nmap done: 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 0.16 seconds

Any ideas would be appreciated.

This can be caused by a number of things. If you uploded an invalid certificate file, this can happen.

You can fix it by forcing a firmware update. Support can help you do that. Put your serial into https://www.buffalotech.com/support

and then you should get the phone number to call, since we do lifetime phone for TeraStations.

If this is not a US machine, then you can follow

https://www.buffalotech.com/knowledge-base/updating-the-firmware-on-a-terastation-or-linkstation-from-a-windows-pc to update FW. Also try using private mode or a different browser.

**A single copy of data, even on a RAID array, is NOT a backup! Hard drive failure is not a question of IF, but WHEN! Don't take my word for it, take Google's!**

Thanks. We are in the US but unfortunately, when I go to the support page and enter the serial number, it says it is out of warranty and the only support options for out of warranty are knowledge base and forums...I also get strange errors when trying to ssh in...it complains of things like "user detacjed" and "channel 0: is dead". Nas Navigator sees the device, but I still get a "site can't be reached" error as if the web server isn't running (was hoping I could get in via ssh to see if I could start/restart the web server).

Where did you hear that the Terrastations are always supported?

Edit: Oh, sorry, I do see the phone number there under the support options. Sorry about that--I will see if I can find some time to give them a call. Thanks for the help!
