Please bear with me, as I am an absolute numpty when it comes to networking....

I have just taken delivery of a Linkstation Live LS-CHL-1.0 and am trying to set up the WebAccess part.

Have found the page. And click on Modify Settings and click on all the bits I think need clicking:

WebAccess Service Enable

Use BuffaloNAS Enable

Enter a BuffaloNAS.com name

Enter a key - know that this is just in case the Name gets removed after a period of inactivity

Click on Enable for the Auto-Configure Firewall

I then click on Save and it spends some time Saving the Data and then changes to Loading Data and then the settings go back to Default with WebAccess Service Disabled and all other settings blank.

Have tried running this with Firewall both switched on and off, but get exactly the same.

My router is a D=Link DGL4300 and I have made no changes to that in this respect. Is there something I should be doing on there? If so, easy instructions would be great.

I have enabled the Media Server and a quick test showed that it was available fom my Tangent Radio so I know some of the stuff works OK.

One thing I have noticed and not sure if relevant is that in the Router the IP address of the Buffalo is 192.168.0.101 but the Admin page is 192.168.0.2.....

Any info that might get me a bit further on the way would be greatly appreciated.

Should Add that I am running firmware 1.21 and XP Professional.

Hi,

What browser you use to setup. If the google chrome may have a problem.

If you set. Auto-Configure Firewall.
DGL-4300 have the UPnP function or not?
If yes set to enabled.
If not please use manual and set port forwarding on the router.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. My browser is IE8.

Will have to look up how to do port forwarding.

Will report back presently as soon as I have had a chance to work it out.

Disable UPNP and set the external port to 9000. Forward 9000 in your router.

Hi Tony,

If you cannot enable web access.

First time you must be to reset to factory by accessing the menu maintenance.
Select initialized. Click [Restore LinkStation].

And you can see how to set port forwarding on this site. http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Dlink/DGL-4300/FTP.htm" rel="nofollow">http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Dlink/DGL-4300/FTP.htm

(Change port 21 to 9000)

Notes.
