LS210D Restoring Stock Firmware

I've followed the instructions at:

Two files transfer by TFTP, I then connect to my LAN and run LSupdater in Debug Mode.  This finds the device but update fails with the error "partition not found".
The new disk was initialised as a simple volume using Windows. 
How should I prepare the new disk so that it works with LSupdater, please.

OP here: with more info.  Using ICY BOX IB-AC705-6G External Enclosure to house the new 3TB disk, and with Windows 7, I can see the full nominal 3TB capacity.

LSUpdater version 1.84 - debug shows 8 options but "Run complete format" is greyed out.  Whatever I try, I see "Partition not found" and the process aborts.

Tried deleting the partition with Windows 7, and creating a "Simple Volume" with NTFS format. 

So how should I create the correct partition on this drive, please?

Old posts on this forum suggest that earlier versions (perhaps 1.6 or before) of LSUpdater can format a new drive.  Where can I get old versions from, please?

OP here.  Downloaded firmware version 1.63 from https://archive.org/details/ls200-v163

Debug screen looks almost exactly like that shown in http://www.herzig-net.de/prog/?page=unbrick_ls-wxl and the firmware installation proceeds as described there.

So why does the more recent firmware lack the format and partition functionality?
