The disk on the unit was almost full, so I tried to delete some files from the trashbox.  They failed to delete, I lost connection to my shares, restarted the unit, still not connection to the share, and now the web interface declares that the disk is unformatted.  Is there any possibility of retrieving my data?  And furthermore, how can this have happened after such a straightforward procedure?

I would try flashing the firmware 2.11 on it again. If that does not restor the data then the file system must have been currupt.

Thanks for the suggestion, although I didn't take it.  The file system was corrupt, I had to fix it using xfs_repair, which was something of a pain to do, but thankfully I got my data back and all is well.

It seems to me that this particular box is not at all suitable for important data though, since the file system can become corrupt so easily.  Is this the XFS/ARM bug at work perhaps?
