LS backups - USB drive or another LS?

Hi folks,

Hope you can help me with my dilemma.

I have a Linkstation Live LS-CH1.0L for general NAS duties and I want to make sure I am backing it up comprehensively.

Option 1. 1GB USB drive formatted XFS plugged into USB port at back, backed up using LS firmware twice a week overnight.

+es: Cheaper, simpler

-es: Can't use XFS disk separately, lose the use of the USB port for UPS/print server duties

Option 2. Buy another LS-CH1.0L, connect to network - and this is where I am a bit hazy.  How easy is it to set up one LS to replicate another?  Would you set a backup job in a similar way to the USB disk or would it work differently?  There's an option to scan for other LS, how will they connect?

+es: More flexible, and solves the -es of Option 1

-es: More expensive, and I'm not sure exactly how it will work!

Can people tell me what they'd recommend and why?  Will backing up over USB2 be quicker than the network?

It would all come down to personal prefrence but for me I would backup to the USB.  When using the two linkstations you have to use it over a network and if you are going to be making daily backups moving a decent amount of files it will bog your whole network down.  And its cheaper:smileywink:
