I have a Linkstation LS-GL 250GB. It's been running fine for 2 years and then yesterday I got an E16 error (unable to located internal hdd).

I noticed the hard disk drive didn't seeming to be spinning, so I opened the device up, removed the hard drive and plugged it into my desktop computer.

It powered up fine in the desktop and was found by the bios, so I connected the SATA cable from the hard drive back in the linkstation, but left the power being supplied by my desktop pc.

Would you believe it, the linkstation started up fine and I'm currently getting all my data off it!!!

So I'm wondering why the linkstation gave me the e16 error? It looks like the drive is ok, but the power supply is not working properly?

If so, is it now a "brick" or can I buy a new power supply?

E16 means that the hard drive could not be found. The power connection between the case and the HD must be defective. I would not know where to purhcase another power supply that would be that small. You could try ebay for parts.
