LS-XHL1.0       Once I have logged in via BuffaloNAS.com and can view my shared folders,  I see a Login prompt in the upper left.  What name and password are they looking for there?  I assume I have not filled out something so far.  Is this part of the upload process?

If you have access restrictions set on a share and have web access set to "use inherited folder permissions" then you would be required to enter a username and password to view a share.  The username and password would be one that you set up in "user management".
