I cannot access the web admin, and only get the error message:

Either the User Name or Password is incorrect.

I have reset the password via shell and just now with the reset button.  The /etc/shadow file was touched by the reset button, so it does indeed reset the password.  But it appears that the authenticate() method in top.cgi is not getting through to the password file.

Are there any known fixes?

thx.

Try flashing the firmware, if it is corrupted that could be the issue.  Also disable all firewalls and antivirus programs when trying to go in to the gui to see if either of those is getting in the way.

Trying to update the flash.

1.  hs-dhtgl-up_214_102 TSupdater.exe does not find the TeraStation

2.  adding /force does not help

3.  reset (init button) and directly connected.  Can see with NAS Navigator, but TSUpdater.exe still does not see it.

Curiously, the TS continues to operate, and the admin password is accepted from within NASNavigator to FindMe and to update the IP address.  However, the password is not accepted by the web admin.

BTW, the problem began with a power outage.  The TS web admin came up in Japanese.  I was able to login and change the language to English, but after that I was never able to log in again.  I suspect there is a language encoding issue, possibly an environment variable that got messed up.

What's next?

I got the firmware reloaded by setting VersionCheck = 0 in the [Flags] stanza of lsupdater.ini.

But after a reboot, I still could not log in to the admin interface.

Interestingly, I did not have to update the IP address after the firmware update.  Maybe another RESET is in order.

A RESET button and power cycle got me back to DHCP, but I still can't access the web admin.

I cant access to admin if I try go with domain-name, but if I put IP address to URL I can access! Weird but true.
