Any Buffalo NAS suitable for DV video capture?

I used a TeraStation a couple years ago, which could not sustain the minimum write throughput over the gigabit Ethernet interface for capturing DV video from a camera through a PC without dropping frames. I tried using Jumbo Ethernet frames to no avail.  I had heard that the older Terastations were using software RAID vs. a hardware RAID controller. Is there a current Buffalo product that can be reliably used as the destination of a video capture session using a NLE such as Adobe Premiere or Sony Vegas Pro to take the Firewire datastream and store it on the NAS?

Also, is there an option for a Buffalo NAS to be temporarily used as a simple USB hard disk, thus bypassing the gigabit Ethernet route?

1. I doubt you could use any network drive to reliably perform video capture. Video capture is bandwidth-intensive, and sensitive to stream interruption... you're much better off using an internal/usb/firewire disk to capture video, then transfer it to the NAS. If you still want to try, I'd recommend the Terastation III or Linkstation Pro LS-XHL, as they are the best performing NAS products we currently offer.

2. The only Buffalo NAS product that can be used as a USB drive is the Drivestation Flexnet.
