Here is my setup, two laptops, one running XP and the other Vista. I have the Linkstation connected to a D-link DIR-655 Gigabit router. Everything worked fine until recently, I have around 50GB of data on the Linkstation.

Now the share folder directory shows blank on both computers!. Everything else works I can access the drive, do web admin even update firmware (which I tried), my drive firmware is at 2.10

The strange thing is if I run a Disk Check from the web admin for a few seconds after the check  I can read the directory and even open files but after around 10 seconds the directory goes blank again. I have also tried connecting the laptop to the router with a cable just in case the issue is my wireles network.

I have tried a lot of things but I know it is not OS related since each laptop is running a different OS.

I can open and read the files in the "info" folder just not the "share" folder, can anyone shed any light on this please?

Thanks in advance

Sean

I have the SAME issue.  Though I have the Terastation PRO 1TB and use it in my classroom which about 180+ students have individual folders with username/password access.  It only happens during some class periods and not the others.  I have also noticed that when I restart, shutdown, or do the disk check that it comes back for awhile (>5min).

It is driving me and my students crazy!!!!  I have done a complete full format of the drives and recreated all accounts and folders only to find out a month later that it happened again.  The only thing that I have noticed is that a student copied a certain file type (.RAR) file to his folder or to another folder in the NAS that is 'open' (no username/password needed) and it triggers this...............this has been the only common link.  So have deleted the file and closed the 'open' folder to test out what happens.  We need some help from Buffalo on this though!

I actually took my linkstation apart to access my file directly from the hard drive inside.

When I put it back together it worked just fine showing the existing files. I can only imagine by reassembling it I accidentally fixed a hardware issue, may be a bad contact or something!

It has been working fine for the past 6 or 7 months!

Sorry I know it is not much help.

Moreno,  what firmware are you running and how full is the unit to capacity?  When you recreated the account did you reset the unit through the web interface?

Hi guys,

I had a similar issue on my Linkstation LS-DHGL 500Gb and this was linked to the insufficiant remaining free space.

Hope it helps.

Ragards.

The unit is only 43% full from a 1TB.  I reset the unit through the web interface then I created the accounts.  The firmware is the latest for my unit (Terrastation Pro)
