Dear all,

I own a Buffalo Terastation PRO II 2Tb. Now I need some more space and I like to upgrade the 4 drive with four 1.5Tb drive. Is it possible or not?

Kind regards.

Claudio.

This is possible to do, but we do not support nor endorse this.  Also please note that doing this will also void the 3 year warranty on the unit.

Claudioc

thank' s a lot. I do that also because the three year warranty has expired :)

The unique issue is: does the operating system resides on one of the fourth hard drive or it's installed on a ROM so the disk are independent by the operating system?

regards.

To do it follow this process. Bare in mind its not offically supported.

Power down the TS, insert one HDD into bay one => Reboot => Restructure the raid (this will take several hours)

Once done, power it down again, insert the new HDD into bay two and again restructure the raid.

Do this with all four HDD's in turn, once done you will have to completely delete and recreate the raid, only then will it show the higher capacity.

The FW and boot images are located on the drives themselves and not a flash.

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.
