Hi, Just ordered one of the 1 terabyte pro duo units and was wondering whether or not you could stream audio or video to other computers on the net using the included software. I don't have the unit yet so i can't run my own tests yet but figured some one else might have tried this already. thanks in advance

You are not very specific in which "net" you intend to stream audio and video. Anyway, the Linkstations work as media servers, and you need some other equipment to stream audio and video from them. In addition to PC´s and Macs and their software(iTunes, for example) you can use media players (such as Sonos, Tvix, Buffalo etc.) to use the media stored at Linkstations. This applies within your local network.

If you intend to stream your media outside your network, Buffalo has web access feature, about which I do not have experience. I would assume you can listen your music outside your network, but the speed limitations may not let you stream video over the internet.

I was curious as to whether you can stream it over the internet, to remote PC's. I would like to listen to my music while at work. or on occasion watch a movie on my lunch break.

I am pretty sure you can listen to your music, but I don´t know if there is any player SW which can stream the music through Buffalo´s web access. I think you can only run one music file at a time with Buffalo WA or download a whole album and listen to it with some player. The video´s add some complexity due to the file size etc.

As you see, the world is far from ready regarding media streaming where and when you prefer. But we need dreams to make it happen. I would like to, for example, stream audio and video from my Buffalo LS´s at home when in my car. On the other hand not that far but on the other hand, needs some imagination etc.

If you want to access over the internet,

First you have to configure in your Linkstation webserver section webAccess and enable it (enter your buffalo name, key, set dir for everyone or group-user depending your shared folders setup, mine I let it for everyone)

Second, go to http://bufallonas.com" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://bufallonas.com and type your buffalo name (you just gave it in your web access GUI) and now you can enjoy musics, medias,movies,doc....

Third, If you have iPhone, you can user your iPhone to stream your medias during break times... anywhere in the world......

I think a generalized walkthrough of the Web Access setup should be put up shortly.  It's been long overdue but I have it on my "to do" list.
