Well I have a problem that hopefully someone can give me some insight to.

We are a small company that runs a peer to peer network all of our computers except two run windows xp we use the buffallo  hs-dh500gl as a file server to share documents amongst mutiple users.  the two computers that do not run windows xp run windows 98 ( i know i know but it has to be that was). up until two- three weeks ago everything was fine the windows 98 machines accessed the  buffalo machine with no errors. suddenly we could not see the buffalo with the win 98 machines. we had not update or other wise done anything to the buffalo or the computers but now they will not open our share folder like they did before.

The wierd thing is I can access all other aspects of the network with the 98 machines but when ever I try to open the share folder on the buffalo I get a message.

the file or folder xxx.ink is unavailable either the network or system resource that refers to x is unavailable

and it says something about trying to remap the network drive.

I have tried to remap the network drive and it says the same thing i have tried to disconnect the network drive and it says there isn't one.  The other crazy thing is if I run the buffalo nas software I can see the linkstation and it's ip address and all that info in the nas software when I try and view shares through the nas software it will not do anything other than look busy for 10-15 seconds and the keys grey out then the are active again and nothing. I have also tried loging on the linkstation through the nas software with the same results.

oh and my firmware ver 2.06

any tips, tricks thoughts are appreciated thank you

Let us know if it does.

everything else can see the buffalo fine and I did discover a solution finally I simply updated the ip address of the linkstation and viola now the win 98 machines can continue working  as before thanks for the suggestion though :-)
