I accidentally created a folder I didn't want the other evening.  When I went to delete the new folder  I mistakenly deleted the folder with 400GB of mp3 files instead.  I tried Raise Data Recovery to no avail - everything was in raw (Fil 001.mp3,etc).  I have great experience in recovering hard drives with NTFS but I'm afraid this XFS has totally screwed my chances of recovery.  What I do know is some recovery programs are better than others.  I have had NTFS recovery programs get raw data or not even recognize the drive  while others get the whole file, proper labels and all.  Any thoughts or suggestions? Is there ANYTHING I can do??????  Please...... Thanks,   Universalblur

unfortunately if you delete a file when using the xfs format, unlike Windows it is really gone!

With ntfs and fat if you delete something windows just says the space is free but the data is still actually there,  in xfs it is totally gone. If you didnt have the trash box enabled then im afraid your files are gone :(

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.  It's kinda backed up - I backup about once a month - it's just sad how much I can add in one month......I think I'm going back to NTFS....not sure I see the merits of XFS.  I did have the trashbox enabled but that would seem to be useless if the folder was deleted, correct?

How exactly did you delete the folder? Through the linkstations interface or by right clicking it => delete (or selecting the folder => Shift +delete)

Hi,

I accidently deleted a folder (500MB), too and I did it by right clicking it => delete.

My tera station is set up as RAID 5, file format is XFS, recycing bin not enabled, and no back up. Is there any hope? Any advice will be appreciated to recover the deleted folder.

Thank you.
