USB Backup Drive will only format to 9.1 GB

Greetings,

I just a week ago purchased a Linkstation SOHO 720 with two 8 TB drives for my home office. Setting it up was not problem but I've run into some challenges the last few days. The biggest is with setting up a USB Backup drive. I have two Seagate 8 TB external hard drives for this purpose (one to leave connected and one to go in a fire safe). Every time I try to format either of these for use with the Linkstation they only format with an EXT3 partition 9.1 GB in size and the rest of the drive remains un-partitioned. I've also tried re-formatting these with a Linux PC in EXT3 but the Linkstation shows them as unformatted. I'm having a lot of issues getting past this and am almost ready to return it, but I figured I'd give this a try first.

Additionally, I've had several occasions where when formatting a USB drive the Linkstation stops responding and locks up. I've also had several instances where the NAS will not start but will lock up if I have a backup drive connected during startup.

Any thoughts on this??? I've already updated to the most current firmware.

Thank you in advance,
Tom
