I have been streaming media to my PS3 with no issues - Default out of the box settings.

Yesterday I had to unplug my PS3 and powerline adapter and since then I have not been able to find a media server. IHowever, i can still see my Windows 7 machines on my network.

No settings have changed. I have checked internet access and this is working therefore, the PS3 still has network connectivity.

I have tried resetting both LS and PS3, I have also rebooted the LS, refreshed the LS Media sever and upgraded the firmware to 1.21 and still no joy. I cannot see any differences to the setup and configuration from my previous working solution.

I have also reset my PS3 to factory default and still it is not working.

I have been looking and reading various threads on this subject and PCast appears in lots of threads. I have looked for this on my LS GUI and I cannot find this setting.

Now I am 100% sure that the LS can stream media to my PS3 as it has been working for some months before yesterday. The question is how do I get it back.

I do not want to install any additional software as mentioned on other sites - I want the functionality that should be available to work.

If anyone has any help or advice or can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.

PCast was only used on the older units.  In the web interface when you go to extenaions > media server, and then click on "Authorized DLNA Media Clients" do you have the PS3 listed?

ickle1999

PCPiranha,

Thank you for your response and the answer to your question is yes and no.

I have updated the IP Address of my PS3 to 192.168.1.63 and my Linkstation is on 192.168.1.64

On various occasions I have seen the IP Address and Mac of the PS3 in the "Authorized DLNA Media Clients" windows however, when this happens I am getting the following errors on my PS3

http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/Technical-Help/DLNA-7531-protocol-error/m-p/4664693" rel="nofollow">DLNA 7531 protocol error

I have tried disabling and re enabling the media server on the PS3 as suggested.

followed by

http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=psnetwork&thread.id=332158" rel="nofollow">Protocol Error DLNA 2104

The second error appears to be a firewall issue based on the information. This appears to be unlikely as the PS3 or the LS do not have firewalls.
Also my laptop is streaming data with no issues and this has a FW enabled.
When I do manage to get the LS icon to appear (reboots and refreshes required) the data come up with a '?' on the PS3.
Any help appreciated.

Ive done some reading and what is the Capacity of your PS3?

ickle1999

It is one of the new slim PS3 with 250GB HDD

Thanks

From what Ive read this is a common issue with the PS3 and many diffrent Media Servers.  By any chance do you have another Media Client you can use?

ickle1999

JoshC,

Please can you clarify exactly what you are asking - Are you talking about another 'Media Client' on my LS?

I currently have one Laptop (wireless) and one Desktop (wired via powerline adpt) that are running Windows 7 and they are streaming HD Data to the PS3 with no issues.

Does this help?

From what Ive read this seems to be an Issue with the Playstation not the Media Server. Others have encountred this problem with out the use of a NAS device or media client like the LsLive.

I have just had a interesting development with this situation.

I have been doing everything I can to get this working and I finally decided to move the LS.

My current setup is managed by 4 powerline adapters. They are all netgear and have 4 ports on each. My Ps3 is in the front room and MY ls in my converted office in the garage.

when I moved my Ls to the same powerline as the Ps3 it worked first time - no messing. As the LS is too noisy for my front room I move it back to my office and THE ps3 does not pick up the Ls.

Therefore, could this be an issue to do with the Ls being so far away for the ps3 to see the drive??
