Android auto backup fails with "This communication method not allowed" error

This question remains unanswered by Buffalo tech support even though I have asked them 3 times! Why does my phone fail to automatically back up to my Buffalo NAS unless I click on "upload now" in "advanced settings"?  I have played around with the parameters, such as how often (5 min, 6 hours, 12 hours) and the delay after connected to WiFi (10 sec is the current setting), but I get the "this communication method not allowed" every time it is scheduled to backup, unless I click on "upload now".  The fact that the backup works when I click "upload now", shows my NAS is configured correctly. 
I'm pretty sure the WebAccess A app is buggy!  That doesn't mean there isn't a fix for this!
