Problem with Media Server on Linkstation

OK, 1st post so please be gentle! :)

 

 I have a LS-CHL 500 gb F/W 1.02

 

I'm using it over a wired ethernet for xbox 360/PS3 and wireless (g) for A vista laptop.

 

I can access the drive fine via an ip address (NOT via it's name), can access the admin screen for both the Linkstation fine, but the media server just doesn't seem to want to play, either for the PC or the xbox or PS3. :(

 

Any ideas?

Update it to the latest CHL v1 firmware which is 1.12

available from buffalo asia

 

and setup your workgroup properly on the nas and pc's

You should only need the 1.07 firmware from the US site.  We do not support 1.12 so you'll be on your own if that's what you decide (also I thought the 1.12 was for the second HW version, but I could be wrong as I haven't used it).

Please don't tell other users to update their firmware from a non US site unless they ask specifically for it.  If this person calls us for tech support and he has this firmware we won't be able to help him.  You can provide it as an option, but please warn users about this.  Thank you.

Maybe buffalo shouldnt be so slow putting the updates on the usa site

its not as if you actually change anything for usa users

on a side note buffalo need to start nameing the files different

as to not confuse end users so much

 

lschl-124.zip would be better as lschl-v2-124.zip
