LS-L500GL need help

I'm sure this isn't the place to START this, but didn't see how to start it. So here goes.

 

I went on vacation, so I shut off the LS-L500GL, with the router on.

When I came home, I turned it on and got this:

When I run the BUFFALO NAS Navigator, the dialog box comes up on the screen with:

Host Name ... LS-LGL-EM696
Workgroup ... BLANK
IP Address ... 192.168.2.103
Subnet Mask ... 255.255.255.0
MAC Address ... 00:1D:73:20:A6:96  which matched the unit
Firmware ...   -----   Maybe it's gone
HDD ... Unformatted   I don't want to loose the information. I have it scattered around, but all in
one place here.

AND

LS-LGL-EM696 is under EM mode.
Update firmware or contact your
local technical support.

When I try to access it, the lower LED does blink.

Suggestions?

This happens to me every time I reboot my ls-l500gl. Generally if it gets shut off for ANY reason, when I boot it back up, it never stops blinking green. At that stage, I have to unplug and plug it in (usually just one more time), til NAS Nav can finally see it (and thinks it has no firmware). Then I re-update the firmware to the latest and all is good.

 

Anyway, long story short: if the Navigator thinks it has no firmware, all that you need to do is use the firmware upgrader to re-establish the latest version, and all should be well. You can get the latest firmware on their site. I have it stored on the local computer for quick reference. :P

mrdrebin is correct, if the firmware has been nagated for a reason, just reapplying it should remedy the problem.  This will not impact the data by any means.  After a successful FW apply and the drive is still "unformatted" suggest contacting a professional data recovery service. before attempting anything to have the best chance of salvaging the data
