I am using this usb drive with Secure Lock Ware. The password input utility works fine.  I'm able to login the drive but when I try to open it I am getting the message: File or file structure corrupted.

Is there any software available that helps me to fix the file structure?

I found a couple of software but none of those is working properly. I also  downloaded a couple of software from CNet's download.com. But the basic problem is that the recovery software do not regocnize the file format and do nothing.

BTW: what is this and is it available to download from your website?

Thanks for  any piece of information.

Usually with file corruption the best idea is to contact data recovery as it is possible for you to do further damage to the data.  The only way to fix the unit would be to format it, but this will result in data loss.

Thank you for the answer. One would suppose that there could be a similar piece of software to Microsoft's check disk. In this case I believe it is the file stucture which is corrupted. I don't know much about the RUF2-e product and what file system it comes with. Is the original file system FAT32?

Secure lock ware comes with two options: It's possible to format the device or remove the encryption. In both cases the data will be lost. Do you recommend any particular way how to initialize the device in order to get it back to working again in the most reliable way. My usb drive is rather old and has worked reliably more than three years.

I suppose it's time to buy new Buffalo products. It's rather good idea to buy two similar USB flash drives and copy the data  to other device now and then. If I remember right it was impossible to burn the content of the Usb drive directly to DVD. Do you have such a piece of software that would keep both usb drives in sync?

Vista comes with sync function:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/How-to-keep-your-information-in-sync" rel="nofollow">http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/How-to-keep-your-information-in-sync

But I think that's not a good solution for private data!

There are certain devices that copies the data between two usb devices.(even without the use of a computer)

But those hardly work with encrypted Buffalo USB drives, or?

If some one knows a good way to keep data in sync between two encrypted USB flash drives please share the idea here.
