Wi-Fi NO Ethernet YES?!?!?!?!

What's the deal?  When I'm connected to my network through an Ethernet cable I can see and access files on my NAS.  When I am connected to my network via Wi-Fi, I can see the NAS with the NAS Navigator 2 but Vista can't.  At one time I was able to view and use the files on my NAS by Wi-Fi so I know it can be done.  I would like to get back there.  Please HELP.

I thought of that too but I can use my Wi-Fi printer with my Wi-Fi laptop.

Not sure but I think it ihas to do with the fact that hard wired you have one ip address and wireless you have another. So it sounds dumb but it happened to me. Do you have your folders set up with restrictios? I had to remap the network drives when I went wireless for the first time. After that it work fine wether I was wired or wireless.

Just because you can use your wi-fi printer, doesn't mean your firewall won't block access to your LS.  Disable all your firewall software, also, tell Vista that you are using a private network.

 

Something to try.  If while using WI-FI, you run NAS navigator and it finds the LS, write down the ip address is says the LS is assigned.  Now press start(windows key) and type \\ip address   in my case I would type \\192.168.20.108 and press enter.  What happens?   For me a window with all my LS shares appears.  I'm using 7, but I belive vista will do the same thing fwiw.   If I type an invalid ip address about 5 minutes later I get a network error. 

 

Are you being assigned the same ip address when connected via ethernet?
