Linkstation to Linkstation monthly sync/backup

I have two 6TB LinkStation Quad machines, both RAID5 configured.  One I use as my principal onsite storage.  The other I just purchased to use as an offsite backup.  My plan is to keep it at work, bring it home once/month, sync it with the main box, and then bring it back to work.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to do this.  Obviously, the first step will be to copy over all the existing data to get them initially synced.  I assume USB is the best way to do this, as opposed to over a network switch.  (USB will be faster, no?)  But what then?

My first thought is to use the Memeo Backup software and to do differential backups.  My only concern with that is the backups are not in "native" format -- they're in backup folders, etc.  I want the two boxes to be mirrors and interchangeable.  I am aware of Memeo AutoSync, and I've used it for smaller projects.  That has potential use here, but, since I'm doing only periodic sync/mirroring, I worry that I'll have to keep AutoSync open all the time -- which is not desirable.  Also, I'm not sure if it can handle 3-4TB of data.

Any other ideas on best practices for keeping the two boxes synced?  Thanks in advance for the help!

the ts3 does all of these things.  Doing the direct copy to a usb drive and then moving it over to the other device off site could work.  If you setup a proper gateway and vpn then you should be able to have the ls quad's see each other in the backup target list.   You can create backup jobs on the devices, replication is avaiable again on the ts3 for a specific folder for a "live" backup to any files changed on the first device.l

Thank you for the response.  Right now, I'm having trouble getting the backup interface (through the browser interface) to see both LinkStations.  I was able to get Memeo AutoSync to start moving files between the two LinksStations (both mapped as network drives), but I would prefer a LinkStation native backup arrangement in order to avoid needing a computer to monitor the backups.

Any suggestions on how to get the backup interface to "see" both?

Also, if my primary LS is ethernet connected to my network, can I direct connect the second via USB to the first?  Or must they both be ethernet connected?

So, to partially answer my questions above: I was able to get the LS's to see one another once I connected my second by network, rather than direct by USB.  I figured direct would be faster, but this is working at least.

I configured a job for overwrite/differential, which I think is the right way to effectively "mirror" the primary LS onto the second, right?

Thanks.
