Last ditch effort to retrieve data

Hello,

I have been trying to get my TS Live rebooted for the last week. I have done everything suggested on this forum from removing and restructuring suspect drives to multiple forced updates. But to no avail it is still failing to boot successfully and mount the disk array. I am getting an E04 error.

I have seen a few topics that suggest as a last ditch measure you might try using Linux to recover some data, but I have never seen anyone actually doing it or at least reporting about it in the forum. I am hoping that someone might have an idea to try something I may not have thought about. I would really like to get some of the data off this thing.

Normally I never complain about products in forums since there are always variables you don't see. But I honestly have never lost so much data than I have on this TS. This is the second time it has failed to restart. The first time the guy on the support side told me I was screwed and would have to rebuild the entire thing. I lost tons of data then and I am sure that is what is going to happen now.

Thanks for everyones help,

Pat

For your ts live your options are trying to remount the entire raid array in linux, your going to have to check out there forums.  Or data recovery through drivesavers.com .  Sorry for the loss of data, I know it's after the fact, anything important needs to be on two seperate devices, and if it's crucial data have it on two devices on site and one off site.  If the tftp boot was unsuccessful then your pretty much out of options.

Thanks for the input. I do have backups of important stuff and it's not the actual loss of data. I have several MyBooks, FreeAgent and a HD docking station connected to whatever I am working on at the moment. It is the fact that this was supposed to make my life easier.

Does anyone know what filesystem is used on the TS live?

Is it possible to connect using the web admin tool when in EM Mode?
