HS-DH500GL Folders Vanish!

I have been having all my folders disappear quite frequently that are under the share tree on my HS-DH500GL.  The firmware for my Linkstation is version 2.11.   All three computers in my hosue (2 Windows Vista Business 32-bit, 1 Unbuntu 9.04) can always see the network drive mapped and if you go to properties is shows that the disk is 41.15% used, but sometimes no folders show up.  If I login to the web admin and run a disk check, all folders come back on all machines.  Any ideas on how to stop the folders from going missing?  It is occuring at least once per day.  The actual linkstation shows no error lights or abnormal activity and reports everything is fine.

Thanks!!!!

Do they disappear from the interface as well?

In the interface I can only see the top level folders, info, share, and Printers.  The info folder has folders underneath I can few, but the share folder is empty unless I do a disck check then all folders will show up again.

I would pull the data off and reformat the drive as it may be some sort of corruption.

Working well after the reformat suggestion was done.

Thanks!

Is this really the best you can do? Just tell someone to spend hours getting data off and reformatting? What if that doesn't fix it? What if it just happens again a week later?

Why is it all the problems with this drive involve hours of my time to fix. I already had to reset my Link Station and spend an hour or so reentering all the share and user settings because it go stuck in an endless backup. All because Buffalo hasn't bother to come up with a simple few lines of code that would enable someone to cancel a backup in progress.

Now you are telling me that I need to wipe it clean and start all over because of some "corruption" that Buffalo isn't going to bother investigating to find out what is going on?

I am getting my data off the drive but I'm not going to bother trying to use it anymore. It has cost me hours of my life trying to fix the several problems that keep cropping up. If Buffalo is not interested in supporting their products (for goodness sake, you can't even fix the stupid backup options menu), then maybe they shouldn't bother staying in business.

It did fix it.  It is the thing to do for data corruption.  This holds true with any storage device.

If you want a way to cancel backups that would be a good feature request:

Corruption can happen with any storage product and is fairly common if you are experiencing power inconsistancies or you interrupt transfer processes.  Unfortunately there isn't much to investigate if data corruption is the problem.

I am very sorry to hear this.  If you have any data recovery questions feel free to ask, Ill do everything that I can to assist you.
