Is it possible to read the LinkStation drives outside of the LinkStation enclosure?
I'm not sure if it's an enclosure failure or drive.
I have a USB Thermaltake 2 Hard drive holder connected to my iMac
Should I be able to read the drives using this?
Or is there some type of proprietary file system used?

The data partitions are formatted with the XFS filesystem. If it is a RAID array it will be inside an MDADM array. All of these technologies are open source and can be accessed from a linux environment without too much trouble.
