Twonky server vs. Simply storing files on linkstation

Can someone please help me think this through? I'm stumped...

Now that I've been working with the Linkstation ProDuo's installed Twonky server for about half a day I'm somewhat underwhelmed by it. I've got a variety of laptops (pc and mac) and would like to have a central repository for iTunes that each computer can edit potentially  at the same time. Ideally I would like something where everyone's adding/editing/deleting music all at once, adding album art, etc.

I had the sense that the Tonky iTunes server would be the solution there... but really it looks like the Twonky iTunes server is just like having another computer there whose iTunes library is "shared"... and that's about it. Meaning - anyone can play the songs but no one can edit them. As far as I can tell the only way to add/edit songs is by navigating to the linkstation and adding/deleting songs and then getting Twonky to update its database. I'm still at a loss about how I could add more of the iTunes bits of data to the iTunes files that Twonky serves up. Maybe I'd have to edit the Twonky's iTunes library .xml file via my local machine's iTunes and then tell Twonky to use it? Unclear on this.

Anyways the other solution seems to be to have one central iTunes library sitting on the linkstation, and a folder with iTunes music on the linkstation, which all computers' iTunes are set to use, and then everyone cleans up and modifies this library on an ongoing basis and we just forget about Twonky entirely.

Can anyone out there in a potentially similar situation or with some experience with all of this give me some recommendations here, or steer me in the right direction perhaps?

Thanks very much.
