LinkStation Quad 1st time setup issues

Hi,

 

I bought a LinkStation Quad recently with 1TB Hitachi drive attached.  Then I add in another WD Green 1TB and configure RAID 1.  It reports error and advise to do a RAID fix which I followed.  Then I can see from my NASNavigator as well as the admin console that RAID 1 is setup.  Next, I shutdown, remove drive 2 (which is the WD 1TB) and start again with only the drive 1 (which is the 1TB Hitachi drive) and the power LED is flashing red 6 times in a cycle and I cannot connect to the LinkStation anymore.  I then tried to shutdown but failed after waiting for more than 10 minutes, and then I have to pull the power from the back to bring it down again.  I placed back drive 2 and start again.  But it is still flashing red 6 times in a cycle and the LinkStation still cannot be connected via admin console after a long time.

 

Can anyone help?  I cannot find any docs that teaches me how to get out of this situation.  Thank you very much!

Here's what you can do.

 

Download TFTboot recovery for your LS Quad.

Download and install Nas Navigator.

 

 

Plug back in both hdds into the LS Quad.

 

Power up and let it go into red LED mode.

 

Once that happens, press on the fucntion button and the red LED will turn blue.

 

Run TFTPboot.exe.

 

Black window pops up.

 

Change IP in your computer to 192.168.11.1 and connect directly by LAN to the LS-Quad.

 

2 black lines/msgs will appear at the bottom of black window.

 

After 3mins, run Nas Navigator  to try to detect your drive.

 

Once detected, update firmware for your LS-Quad.
