Windows 7 Compatibility Timeline?

My company is looking into buying a new network storage device. However, we have 1 person currently on Windows Vista, and we will be buying a new system with Windows 7. I'm seeing very little Windows Vista compatibility, much less Windows 7. I've seen the hacks for Windows Vista, I think we are using something similar with our existing NAS, and it doesn't work very well at all.

 

At what point will we be seeing Buffalo products that are fully compatible  out of the box with Windows 7?

Well, it definately will not be supported until it is actually out.  Right now windows 7 is still beta.  Until windows 7 has officially been released we will not have anymore information about this.

I'm just really confused about why there is no explicit support for Windows Vista, much less Windows 7. Vista has been out for a year and a half now, and I'm not seeing out-of-the-box compatibility with that. All I see is people having problems and doing registry hacks to get it to work.

No, I said that we will not even have any information until it is officially out.

What product are you even talking about?  I'm not aware of any particular unit have compatability issues with vista (unless the unit is old).  Please show me what you are talking about (link?).

   Im using Windows 7 with Multiple Buffalo Nas's (TS-H1.0TGL/R5) (HS-DH500GL) (HD-H250LAN) and i'm having no problems.

I have not seen many issue with Windows 7 at all with NAS devices (like davo suggests he is not having any)!

 

Though a good rule of thumb... Not many (if any) companies will support an operating system that is not fully supported by the people that make it! As far as I know... Until Win7 is officially released, Microsoft themselves will not support it! There is a simple reason for this, it is still in the makings.

It is hard to support something that is not stable and can/will change quickly and easily!

 

PCPiranha is correct, I believe that all Buffalo's products (sold within the last two years or even earlier) support Windows Vista! If having issues, please explain so we can try and get this resolved for you

   Well as far as im aware the only compatiblity issues people might have would be driver related. This however does not come into play with NAS's as they dont use drivers to communicate. Microsoft as far as im aware do say that if the driver is compatible with Vista then it should work with 7.

The USB printer port (LS) does not work with Windows 7 upgrade from vista.
