I have a mini station HD-PF250U2 USB hard drive.  I  was wondering if I  can use that for my boot drive and if so how do I set it up?

In theory you could do that, but I don't beleive it is supported on our side.  If the computer was configured to boot up off the usb hard drive first and then you had a proper image on the usb hd it is possible.  There are many variables like the os, the computers hardware and setup, and the programs you will use to make an image/iso that we can't support.
