Hi Im Bart from Philippines.  I encounter error accessing buffalo ( LS-W1.0TGL/R1-AP )

after power interruption. It's been two weeks now since it happen and I still hoping to

recover all files here. I tried to pull-out the HDD and transfer to other working LS and it doesn't work meaning the HDD is the problem. I tried also to mount to windows base PC and use third party software (diggerdisk) to recover the data but i failed because It said the data is corrupted. The data on this Drive is very very important that's why I'm hoping that one day i can retrieve this.

Now the LS LED blinks always in green for a long long time. It click the power OFF button to shutdown but it did not. I don't know why. When I Hold the Function key, then ON it blinks with blue then a couple of minutes it replace with green light then that's it.

Please help how to retrieve the data. I know the hdd is not defective. coz it detects in management.

Thanks in Advance

Bart,

Did you purchase the units in the Phillipines?  If so you must contact there support.  Software and hardware revisions are diffrent and are specific to region.

Yes. They purchase 3 units from us. I try to contact the local support here but they are so busy. Since they bought from us were the one to support them first that's why I am looking for an immediate solution from buffalo site and forums.  can you help us please?

Thanks

Bart

It seemed like the unit encountered a e04 error which means that it couldnt load the kernal.  The usual procedure in the US is try and flash the firmware, if that dosent work then you would try a TFTP boot , but the problem is this info gives you no help becuase of the region your in. If you took the HD out and put it in a windows PC it wont work the file system is XFS Linux.  I know in the US if you take the HD out then it will VOID that warranty.  If there was something we could do for you we would but yet again the Hardware and Software are specific to region.

A last resort once you've tried JoshC's suggestions:

Drivesavers http://www.drivesaversdatarecovery.com/" target="_blank">www.drivesaversdatarecovery.com

They have a high rate of recovery, and they will put recovered data on a private FTP site, for you to access your data faster, once recovered, as well as put it on a HDD and send that to you for a hard copy of the data.

They operate internationally, 24/7.

Thanks JoshC

Fortunately, I contact the local support here to find out that what i done already is there procedures also on how to back the LS-W1.0TGL/R1-AP in working mode. Sad to say no concrete details on how to support my clients once their Buffalo bugs down. Since I sell almost 30 units for 8 company. I must look for another solutiion.

-- Also I meet the company IT Manager (my client) who needs only to retrieve the data  even ask me to disregard the warranty sticker as long as the data is recover.

Anyway, back to the problem, the power light is continuous flashing blue and hard disk light remain static, then LAN light blinks. I even tried to initialize it with holding function button and the pressing power button, no much effect. Please help me how can I recover the data on drive? priceless. How can I make it work again?

By the way I have extra LS-W1.0TGL/R1-AP which I can replace its hard disk and can get my data?

- This morning I transfer the harddisk to working LS-W1.0TGL/R1-AP sad to say its not working meaning the harddisk is the culprit (problem) and the board is working.

- Can i try TFTP? How? is there a possibility that the data is not affected nor deleted once i use TFTP? Since were using English firmware can we used this? The region is the problem? Does we have a firmware that support us for Asia Pacific particularly here in the Philippines

Thanks in advance,

 bart

PCPiranha

RN,  Those are all questions that you should ask your local support.  You can try the TFTP procedure but it will only help if the kernal is lost.  It seems that you have already found the kulprit (the HDD).  If the data truely is priceless then you may want to contact drivesavers (memoryman gave contact info) to see if they can recover some of the data.  They have worked on complex RAID systems for a long time.

PCPiranha,

Thanks,

Anyway, i will try TfTP first.
