Hello,

I recently updgraded my above named nas to the 1.20 firmware.

Since than the nas ends up in EM mde and 169.xxx.xxx.xxx ip address.

I gathered this information by using the 'TFTP recocery packe from the ftp server.

I also tried the  TFTP Boot program without any success.

Thx for any help.

If your LS-XHL was sourced in Africa, Europe, or the Middle East, the current newest firmware is (currently) version 1.20.

If it was sourced in North America, South America, or the USA (interesting distinction on the Buffalo http://www.buffalo-technology.com/?select-your-region" target="_blank">Region map!), then the latest firmware is currently version 1.10.

The LS-XHL is not available in at least eight of the regions on the map, and for those regions with non-western characters, your guess is as good as mine!

It is only too easy for downloads to choose the wrong region of the world and thus, potentially, an incorrect version of the firmware.

Previous moderator posts have given the impression that the LS-XHL apparently differs between these two geographical areas (the Americas, and Europe/Africa/Middle East), and that unhappiness may occur if you try to install the wrong firmware for your specific part of the world.

Could this be your problem?

This might be one direction to investigate...

My nas is a asian version and i did use the international version straight of he website.

Thx for that hit.

All of our units are specific to region.  What ever region you purchased the unit in you will have to contact that regions Local Support, or go to there region on this site.

I think the LS-XHL firmware 1.20 has the same issue as the LS-CHL firmware version 1.20. The LS-CHL firmware was pretty quickly replace by version 1.21 to resolve a boot issue after upgrading to version 1.20.

The good news is that you probably will be able to downgrade to version 1.10 as I mentioned here http://forums.buffalotech.com/buffalo/board/message?board.id=0101&message.id=13633#M13633" target="_blank">http://forums.buffalotech.com/buffalo/board/message?board.id=0101&message.id=13633#M13633

Hiya,

Thx for that other hint.

I managed to solve the problem by installing the latested version 1.20 from the asia server.

Turned out that I was assuming that all firmware version where generic from the main website.

On the otherhand there is still another issue with nas that is does seem to time out and lose network connectivity.

did one lese experience the same probleme?

thx for any responses
