First post :)

In advance i want to thank all the replyers

I have just purchased the Linkstation pro duo 1tb to be used in small office as backup double safety.

Ive played with some nas servers and so on but cant seem to fix this one.

Problem : Connecting to GUI Takes 10 seconds before login screen pops out.

FTP File transfer "Connecting to Linkstation ....   Connected to Linkstation  10 seconds after"

Is there a "fix" for this slowness or is it just by default this slow  ?

I live 1.5 miles apart from the office and i cannot even connect from my home to the linkstation (yes i know the isp loops my connection for about another 10 miles). When i try to connect the linkstation it will start working but then says Connection timed out after 60 seconds.

The office has 100Mb/100Mb (to outside) connection so that shouldnt be the problem. In office we have 1gb switch.

Did you forward ports 20 and 21 on your router to the local IP address of the NAS?

Workerbee

Yes ports 20 and 21 are forwarded (Theres no router just 60 port HP switch with 2Gb ports). The NAS is on open network with Static IP. Thats why im wondering why cant i fix it :(
I configured the Linkstation at start with crossover cable attached to my laptop and it seemed slow then already....
