Anyone else got the same problem with iTunes (8 and 9) when playing music (MP3) from Shared disk the songs keep on jumping from one another with no logic at all ?

I start listening to one track and in random time the song "changes", like the HD didn't know where to read from the disk. It can be any song from the HD, not from the same directory. The time bar keeps on runnin normally. VLC-player has the same problem.

Winamp (ran through Parallels desktop on Win XP Pro SP3) plays ok, no jumping.

The problem here is that you mentioned that iTunes was jumping where Winamp was not so the HD not knowing where to read from isn't precisely the problem. The bottom line here is that one program (Winamp) works whereas the other (iTunes) does not. I'm afraid the problem lies with Apple not the NAS. As for VLC it's difficult to say as I've had issues streaming content on a local HD to a file before but since VLC is currently open source it will most likely be a while before the bug for this is fixed.
