PCs cannot change/delete folders or files created by MAC

Hi, we are accessing our LS from 4PCs and one MAC. We've got different folders with different restrictions on who can access them. The problem is that subfolders created by the MAC cannnot be changed - files/folders can not be accessed, added or deleted - by any of the PCs even though they're within a "public" folder. Any folder created by one of the PCs can be handled correctly. Any help in this matter?? Thank you very much, (partly very) confused

Which unit is this?  Also what firmware are you running?  What happens when you try to change the file (do you get an error, if so what is it)?

Thank you for the quick reply!

We are using LS-W1.0TGL/R1-V3 with firmware 3.09.

When I try to create a new file or folder in the folder created by the mac I get:

"The file/folder '...' could not be created.

Access denied!",

when I try to copy a file into the folder created by the mac I get:

"filename could not be copied: Access denied

Make sure the disc is neither full nor writing disabled nor used by any other person.",

and when I try to save changes to an existing file I get:

the file is writing disabled.

So it seems that everything created by the mac is writing disabled even though this has not been set by the mac (or has it indeliberately?).

I'm thankful for any help (but still a bit)

Do you have the same issue when trying to connect afp?  Try it and I'll look into this

We've tried "afp://server..." (and "//server..." which becomes "afp://server..." automatically) instead of "smb://server...", but then the mac can't access the LS at all. Error message: "can't be connected" When we try to connect to the LS via browse, it automatically chooses smb. is there another way to try afp? Thank you

PCPiranha

The only way i know of is to go to go then connect to a server, but i am no mac guru.

Are you typing in the server name or IP?  Makes sure you try by IP and I would also update the firmware to 3.10

Now we've tried server name and IP with smb and afp. As before smb works, afp doesn't. We've recognised a further problem though. The mac can only access some of its permitted folders and we don't know why. Anyway, I tried to download FW 3.10, but it's not available on the European server and our serial number isn't regonized on the American server (I tried even though it said it was only for North American users). Is there any chance we can get FW 3.10 anyway?

Me again ;)

It seems we found the solution to at least one problem. As it turns out, the files created by the mac ARE writing disabled after all, because the LS uses the global permissions from the mac. On the other hand, writing disabled files copied onto the LS from a PC are writing enabled on the LS if it's a "public" folder. Can these settings be changed by the LS?

The other problem still persists. The mac can sometimes access all folders it is supposed to, sometimes only a few, but always different ones.

We are still thankful for any help

Hi,

is there any way we can access FW 3.10? It's still ony 3.9 on the European server.

We can't find a way to tell the LS to ignore the restrictions passed on by the mac.

And the mac still can't access all allowed folders on the LS.

Still thankful for any help

A little late, use "BatCHmod" on the Mac to reset all permissions.
